Why Your Baby’s Sleep Starts With YOU

Sleep struggles are one of the most common frustrations new parents face. Long nights, endless rocking, and the constant question: “Why won’t my baby sleep?”
Here’s something most moms have never been told: babies don’t produce their own melatonin yet.
What Is Melatonin & Why Does It Matter?
Melatonin is often called the “sleep hormone.” It helps regulate the body’s circadian rhythm — the natural clock that tells us when to be awake and when to rest.
But infants don’t create enough melatonin on their own during those first months of life. Instead, they rely on their mother’s melatonin supply — passed through breastmilk and influenced by mom’s own circadian rhythm.
When Mom Is Out of Rhythm…
If your baby isn’t sleeping well, sometimes the root cause isn’t them at all — it’s YOU.
👉 If you’re staying up late under bright lights,
👉 If you’re waking tired even after 8 hours in bed,
👉 If stress has your mind racing at night…
… your circadian rhythm may be out of sync. And when you’re out of rhythm, your baby doesn’t get the melatonin signals they need to settle and rest.
Why This Matters for Families
When mom’s sleep is dysregulated, the whole household feels it.
Babies struggle to nap or fall asleep at night.
Moms feel depleted, moody, and disconnected.
Partners and older kids are impacted by the exhaustion in the home.
The good news? This can change.
Reconnecting With Rhythm
The key is helping moms restore their natural circadian rhythm by aligning with the sun, the moon, and the seasons. Simple shifts like:
Reducing artificial light in the evening
Getting morning sunlight
Eating and resting in sync with the day’s cycles
Supporting minerals that regulate energy & calm the nervous system
When mom’s rhythm is supported, baby benefits too. Sleep improves, stress lowers, and the entire family feels more grounded.
Join Us for Autumn Awakening 🍂
This is exactly what we’ll be covering in our upcoming Autumn Awakening Workshop.
✨ Together, we’ll explore circadian rhythm & cyclical living through both science and seasonal practices. You’ll leave with tools to reset your body’s natural rhythm — supporting your sleep, your hormones, and yes, even your baby’s rest.
