✨The HTMA Test for Kids✨
Your child's behavior, mood, and health symptoms have a root cause. This is how we find it.
You have been to the endless pediatric appointments.
You have tried the strategies, the diets, the therapists, the medications, the discipline approaches. You have read the books. You have cried in the car after the hard days.
And you have been told, in so many different ways, that this is just how your child is.
I am here to tell you something different.
Your child's body is not broken. Their brain is not defective. Their behavior is not a character flaw. In most cases, what looks like a behavioral or developmental issue has a physiological layer underneath it that nobody has looked at yet — a mineral imbalance that is quietly disrupting the way their nervous system, brain, and immune system function.
The HTMA test finds it.

Why minerals matter for your child
Every function in your child's body depends on minerals.
Their ability to focus, sit still, regulate their emotions, sleep through the night, fight off infections, digest their food, and feel calm in their own body — all of it is built on a mineral foundation.
When that foundation is disrupted, the downstream effects show up as the symptoms you are watching every day.
Here is what the research and clinical picture consistently shows:
-
Zinc deficiency disrupts dopamine and serotonin production — the neurotransmitters responsible for focus, mood regulation, and impulse control. Low zinc is one of the most commonly documented findings in children with ADHD and behavioral challenges.
-
Magnesium deficiency keeps the nervous system in a state of hyperactivation. It is the mineral that helps the brain and body calm down. Without enough of it, your child cannot self-regulate no matter how hard they try.
-
Copper toxicity is one of the most under-discussed drivers of anxiety, OCD tendencies, hyperactivity, and emotional volatility in children. When copper is elevated relative to zinc, it floods the nervous system with stimulatory neurotransmitters. The result looks like a child who cannot turn off.
-
Calcium and phosphorus imbalances affect how the brain uses energy and how the nervous system communicates. They show up in kids with learning difficulties, fatigue, and mood instability.
-
Iron dysregulation — not just deficiency, but excess as well — affects dopamine pathways, sleep, and immune function.
-
Sodium and potassium patterns tell us how the adrenal glands are functioning — and chronic stress in children (including the stress of sensory overload, school pressure, and family dynamics) depletes these minerals in ways that make everything harder.
None of these patterns show up on a standard blood panel. All of them show up on the HTMA.

What is the HTMA Test?
The Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis is a non-invasive test that measures the mineral content inside your child's cells using a small sample of scalp hair — about one teaspoon.
Unlike blood tests, which show what is circulating at a single moment in time, the HTMA shows what has been happening inside the cells over the past three to four months. It reveals depletions, excesses, and ratios that blood work misses entirely.
It does not require a needle, a blood draw, or a clinic visit. It is done at home, mailed to a certified lab, and analyzed by me personally.
It is safe for any age. I work with infants, toddlers, school-age children, and teenagers.

About your practitioner

Hi friend! I'm KP Richards, ND, HTMAp — a naturopathic doctor specializing in women's health, the vaginal microbiome, fertility, and pediatrics. I work with families navigating unexplained infertility, hormone imbalances, mental health symptoms, digestive issues, hypothyroidism, and pediatric concerns. In almost every single case, minerals are part of the picture.
HTMA testing finds the missing picture that standard workup misses.
How It Works
Order + fill out your health history form inside your client portal. Two forms must be completed for all individuals before protocols and lab results can be released: Health History Form & Health Consent.
Collect your sample at home. Your kit arrives by mail (or digital if you're international). Cut your hair sample and send it off to the lab (instructions are included once you place your order!)
If hair has been recently colored, it is recommended to wait at least 6 weeks after coloring for the most accurate results.
Lab turnaround time is typically 2-4 weeks. Once results are received, your interpretation and protocols will be uploaded in your Practice Better portal with one week of us receiving them from the lab.
Add a call if you need one. Book a 1:1 follow-up for $99 anytime after you receive your report. Most women find the report answers everything, but the option is there!
Have questions? I got answers!
I've already done an HTMA somewhere else. Can I still work with you? Not through this offer. This includes the test. If you have recent results you want reviewed send me a DM on Instagram or email to livelyrootedfwc@gmail.com and we can book a different session.
What if I have questions after I get my report? Add a 1:1 follow-up call for $99. Book it directly through your portal after your report arrives.
Can I test internationally? Yes. International clients receive a digital test requisition. Everything else — report, protocol, Fullscript access — is identical.
What are the protocol options? I'm a food-first practitioner. I focus first on honing in your diet, lifestyle, and nervous system. I never throw random supplements at my clients. There will be supplement recommendations but they are not required if you prefer a food-first focus as well.
How long until I get my results and protocol? Lab turnaround time is typically 2-4 weeks. Once I receive your results you can expect them uploaded in your client portal within one week. Timeline looks like 3-5 weeks.
What if I'm on medication? Totally fine! I'm a food-first practitioner so a majority of my recommendations will hone in on your diet + lifestyle + nervous system. Supplements are recommended but optional. If you make a note in your health history your medication and dosage I always make sure that supplements will not interact.
How much does this cost? $299. If you'd like to test additional family members such as your husband, that will be a separate enrollment at the same price!
